How can I block D-Link SharePort DIR-505 Mobile Companion?
Hi guys! I know that this new device made by D-Link is just awesome and lots of people want to get it and use it, but... I need to block it :) I won't tell you the details, hope it will not make you not to answer my question.
Hello Zach!
D-Link SharePort DIR-505 Mobile Companion is a wireless device that works as WiFi hub with a bunch of useful functions and few working modes. When this device is used in the router mode, it can make a nice shareable WiFi connection from the single Ethernet connection. This is very useful feature if you travel somewhere with your family or just with the person you love, stay in the small hotel and there is only a single wireless internet connection that can be shared via D-Link SharePort DIR-505 between all of you.
Another mode is the repeater mode. It is very useful if you are rich guy checked-in into the large executive room of the luxury hotel but their WiFi access has only one hotspot per room so its signal is not reaching the far end of your room (e.g., the jacuzzi area). But you can plug-in SharePort DIR-505 and have the wireless internet in any part of your room.
In addition to those working modes D-Link SharePort DIR-505 Mobile Companion can be used to connect your hard drive via USB port to the Internet or simply to recharge your smartphone. But this device can also be used to get WiFi access in places where there should be no wireless internet and crack into your laptop, smartphone, tablet or any other WiFi-enabled gadget. In order to protect your personal data from this threat you can block D-Link SharePort DIR-505 Mobile Companion and save your private information from being stolen.
